12 tips for new players
Start with a high-health class
Paladin (245), Hunter (240) and Warrior (230) forgive mistakes. Our Warrior lasted 2:44 on a blind first run; our Mage, at 215 health and with nothing to hide behind, lasted 0:41.
Move around the horde, not through it
Both of our deaths came from contact with a group: the Mage walked into kobolds, the Warrior was caught by a wolf pack in open ground. Circle the edge so spells hit the front rank.
Read the warning banners
"A pack hunts you!", "Swarm surrounds you!", "A stampede charges through!" and "A wall of foes closes in!" mean a special wave is coming. Move toward open space before it arrives.
Fill your six spell slots early
Each new spell adds damage and coverage. Once all 6 slots are full, rank up your best area spell with high-rarity upgrades.
Value rarity over novelty
A Legendary upgrade to a spell you use is often better than a Common new spell. The card says how much it adds (for example "-25% cooldown, +2 targets").
Use your 3 free rerolls
Press R when a hand has nothing for your build. Rerolls reset every run.
Buy the first cache
The first battleground cache costs 20 gold. Rings like Band of Accuria (+damage) or Quick Strike Ring (-cooldowns) speed up everything else.
Pick a race for its racial
Tauren and Orc add health, Undead and Night Elf cheat death, Gnome adds luck for rarer cards. Racials cast on their own.
Every run pays talent experience
Even our 41-second run paid 10 experience. Time survived and kills pay the most early on; the first point arrives at 80.
Plan toward one milestone
The 10-point milestone changes how a class plays. Put your first 10 points in one tree with the talent calculator before spreading out.
Unlock the first perks
Play 10 runs (Regular) for Second Thoughts (+1 reroll), and win Elwynn Forest for Banish. Collect 5,000 gold total for the Companion.
Export your save
Progress lives in the browser. Options → Saves → Export Save keeps a copy if you clear site data or change computers.
What our first runs taught us
We played two blind runs in Elwynn Forest on v0.106.0. The Human Warrior took a legendary Cleave upgrade at level 2, learned Execute at level 5 and Thunder Clap at level 6, and had five spells, 56 kills and level 6 at 0:52. It reached level 13 and 356 kills before a wolf pack ended it at 2:44, 16 seconds before Hogger.
The Undead Mage took Frost Nova at level 2 and died at 0:41 on level 3 after walking into a kobold group. Same zone, same blind movement: the difference was health and range. That is why the tier list puts the Mage in the "hard to learn" group.
FAQ
How do you survive longer in Azeroth Survivors?
Keep moving around the edge of the horde, pick a high-health class, take area spells early, buy the first cache, and spend talent points between runs. Watch the warning banners for packs and swarms.
What should I do with my first talent points?
Put them into one tree and aim for its 10-point milestone. Respecs are free, so you can change your mind later.
